Buttery orange cookies made with fresh zest and dipped in chocolate. This easy recipe creates crisp, tender cookies with a bright citrus flavor.
Ingredients
- 113 g unsalted butter, softened (½ cup)
- 75 g granulated sugar (⅜ cup)
- Zest of 1 large orange (or 2 medium oranges)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 200 g all-purpose flour (1 ⅔ cups)
- 35 g cornstarch (¼ cup)
- ½ tsp salt
- 30 ml fresh orange juice (2 tbsp)
- 150 g melted chocolate
Method
Rub sugar and orange zest together until fragrant.
Add softened butter and mix until creamy.
Add orange juice and vanilla extract, then mix until combined.
Sift flour, cornstarch, and salt. Add to the mixture and combine with a spatula.
Knead briefly until a dough forms.
Roll the dough between parchment paper to 1 cm (½ inch) thickness.
Chill for 1 hour.
Cut into 1 cm (½ inch) strips and place on a lined baking tray.
Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 11–13 minutes.
Let rest on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Dip cooled cookies into melted chocolate.
Chill for 20 minutes until the chocolate sets.
