Buttery orange cookies made with fresh zest and dipped in chocolate. This easy recipe creates crisp, tender cookies with a bright citrus flavor.

Ingredients

  • 113 g unsalted butter, softened (½ cup)
  • 75 g granulated sugar (⅜ cup)
  • Zest of 1 large orange (or 2 medium oranges)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200 g all-purpose flour (1 ⅔ cups)
  • 35 g cornstarch (¼ cup)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 30 ml fresh orange juice (2 tbsp)
  • 150 g melted chocolate

Method

  • Rub sugar and orange zest together until fragrant.

  • Add softened butter and mix until creamy.

  • Add orange juice and vanilla extract, then mix until combined.

  • Sift flour, cornstarch, and salt. Add to the mixture and combine with a spatula.

  • Knead briefly until a dough forms.

  • Roll the dough between parchment paper to 1 cm (½ inch) thickness.

  • Chill for 1 hour.

  • Cut into 1 cm (½ inch) strips and place on a lined baking tray.

  • Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 11–13 minutes.

  • Let rest on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

  • Dip cooled cookies into melted chocolate.

  • Chill for 20 minutes until the chocolate sets.
